10.7.14 Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad

Photo: Today was a terrible horrible no good very bad day. But somehow? We got through it. And now, it's bedtime. Tomorrow will bring forth a brand new day. It's kind of nice to get a new one each morning, for some mysterious amount of time to come. Sweet dreams.

10.6.14 The Vast Irreverent Mist

As I pull out into the road, I see the dad strap his baby to his chest, as the double bus deposits an endless line of sleepy students onto the pavement, who then slowly go their separate ways.
An old Volkswagen bug stutters by , a big stuffed bear safely belted into the passenger seat.

Meanwhile, an early morning Fall mist obscures much of the University, and the surrounding countryside, making ghostly beauty out of treetops. As the smoldering sun cuts it's way through, and the fields await the imminent arrival of thousands of geese.

Heading out through the curving hills, the Sumac along the roadside turn florid orange and red ; as a line of wild turkeys cross to the left in the mornings; back to the right in the evenings.

Here in farm country, all is well: produce and pumpkins and unbelievably unique gourds lie heaped around Chrysanthemums on roadside stands.

The almost full moon resides over us in the day , barely there up in the day sky, waiting it's turn to shine.

Potato trucks , piled to the brim with huge pyramids of their harvest, flash headlights as they pass each other, coming and going .
We do a slow gentle meander back to our fair home. Past the ever capricious Connecticut River, streaming powerfully through the vast, irreverent mist.

10.6.14 As Fall Slowly Creeps Onward Into All Things

As toward the west,  my pup and beloved run up the mountain
as I sit and rest and be outside
watching the sun's light
fleetingly move along trees
then brush, then woods
as if by magic- it's golden glow
scattering about the forest
a prelude to nightfall.

I sit, feeling the chill about me
as it sinks into the land
as the earth turns upon its axis
and fall slowly creeps onward , into all things.

10.6.14 Finally Watering The Thirsty Living Things

Photo: Toward the northeast, the clouds billow; then move on, bringing rain to places to be reached, as they travel along. The sky toward Amherst always pinked, night and day, now glimmerswith a glow of light between clouds, . Later, there will be human's lights, blazing still, all night. The cool fall day damp from yesterday's rain, finally : watering the thirsty living things.
