Next door there is a house near the road,
with a motion sensitive back light.
For years, no one has lived there,
but now an older friend of theirs is there.
It's always been a bit thrilling ,
the light set off; seeing it in the deep of the night
as you get up to go to the bathroom.
Because a raccoon or possum won't do it.
Has to be a bear, or coyote, living their quiet lives ,
trying their best to stay away
from stupid humans
that eat their neighborhoods for breakfast.
It is a thrill to know they are our neighbors,
passing by.
