2.8.15 We Are Taken Up By What Is Before Us, And Full Of Hope For That Which Is Not
How interesting it is that, as we grow older, our task becomes learning to live with the untenable, in a way that does not foster secondary harm to us, emotionally or physically. Challenges that are difficult, and heartbreaking, that others most often cannot grasp the import of, nor the profound impact. Isolation becomes the very worst remedy.
There, in our youth, with beginnings kind or cruel, still we go forth toward the future, and if we are lucky (for not all are lucky) we are taken up by what is before us, and full of hope for that which is not.
Eventually we reach an age where it becomes increasingly evident what very well may not happen in our lives. What may not settle with loved ones, and well, in our lifetime. This is often so painful, and sharing with others who do not listen well, and try to find solutions so they themselves will feel better knowing we do, is often not helpful whatsoever. Teaching or finding those who do listen well, and don't try to fix anything, can be a reciprocal, priceless succor.
It stuns me how these hardships occur, whether they relate to an offspring, a relative or dear friend, a partner, a lack of partner or offspring, a collapsed occupation, health that stops our lives in it's track; so many difficult things take root in our lives.
And come to find that the only true remedy, aside from problem solving or considering good ideas, often becomes learning to live with what is happening in our lives, is such an unexpected thing. When all along we thought so much was possible, was something we could do something about, if we were simply resourceful or tenacious or courageous enough.
