This day has the bright, wide open feel of movement, of change.
Here, in this place of cold and snow, the warmer times creep in. The
Sparrow families, with their grown offspring, wait for warm moments of early
afternoon, when the sun shines upon the tops of their birdhouses, and they
close their eyes, happily grouped together there, letting the strengthening light
warm their insides.
Here, the summer birds are heard in their songs, knowing as they do that
time will bring the blossoming and the nest building and insects and times of
great good life.
Soon, down by the designated, carefully saved up for and purchased
Wildlife Sanctuary areas, the Starlings will begin to arrive from their long winter's migration, one group after another, as the stream flows and the rich Spring greets them.
They will be singing and talking to one another, by the hundreds, of Starling things, in a great good
exuberance, as they enter the time of growth and procreation.
Spring's pounding rains will come ,and then languorous hot summer days.
Their young ones cracking their way out of carefully tended eggs, and
beginning new life, everywhere at home.
