7.12.15 Somehow, as we grow older

Suddenly I begin to recognize how often we externalized our spirituality in youth, and then slowly let go of those trappings, as we aged.
That heady omnipotent interpretation of events,of small circumstance . The beliefs , bordering on superstition , as we saw our faith manifest in traffic lights, portents, trees and wind.
How the depth of meaning we were growing first flitted about in all things , before being carved away.
By challenge, circumstance, and our growing capacity to recognize grace, there, before us , and inside of us. A constant in everyday life.
Somehow as we grow older, what means much to us becomes stripped down, the drama let go of, the essential nature of our faith reveals itself as a mountain of dignity , within us and without .
