It's interesting. , this job thing that occurs
more and more often as we get older . Either the job we held for quite awhile
changes up or the demand decreases or the business morphs or closes, and we are
unable to find another position, or health takes it's toll ; and finally
there's this junction between continuing to work and get much sicker , or stop.
Either way , it's not what we planned. Nor is it anything we imagined we would be faced with.
Sometimes when I'm filling out forms and they ask if you have a workplace
Or you're retired
I want to add another category, like
"Got the big surprise" or
"Fizzled out".
The other interesting thing we don't think about til it happens is what happens when you have a small monthly income and don't seem to be about to make more again.
Sometimes you've had the foresight and courage to think this over before your crash, and strategizes some solutions. To reduce costs. Move in with someone else. Or the old If-you- own-it-can- borrowing -to-divide-it-and-rent- it-work- out-without-losing-it-and-becoming-homeless?"
In the meantime , whether your body and health feel great or not, life has handed you TIME. Much more of it . Less context, less externalized structure, and loads more time.
A lot of buying things ceases. You realize you have some nice clothes and some casual clothes. You take good care of the good clothes so they don't become crappy; while your casual clothes you wear all the time. , and begin to crap up. You begin to wear the crappiest stuff while at home to make all the other stuff last. All the older people you ever knew begin to come to mind now , their outdated perfectly good well preserved clothes.
And then , you learn to let go. You grieve and let go and settle down and let go , and after months or a year or so, you begin to clear . You've settled now, and fallen in love again with your new life that came on up and surprised you .
You say to yourself "Just relax" . As you move into your day, you say " I have a day here, right here in my hands." You see things anew, slowly growing new routines of recompense and peace .
Your grief slowly becomes smaller as your acceptance and ease and gratitude grows large wings and enormous breath and a new aptitude for this transformed life.
It isn't all peaches and roses, but in between the very real concerns and the rich mosses, the pains and the heartbreak and disappointments, lives the resilient gift of your day .
