8.25.15 And then, there, Narcissus learning intently over the reflecting pool

Don't you love the concept of reflection ? As a noun, a verb, or an adjective ? This reflection of a tree in a pond, during the rain , such a variation on the sheer reality of those branches , mediated by sunlight , the wind upon the water , the aspects of the tree visible versus not visible .
Our reflection of the past, intimating a separate reality altogether, versus a recollection , or even a memory . More imbued w our subjective experience, perhaps.
Our reflection in a mirror, another imperfect variation on a theme, of how we appear to ourselves , to others, from which angle; in what light.
And then, there; Narcissus's reflecting pool, the vision of him captured by his own image , or whatever variation was present to him in that murky water , at that moment; that caught him and held him, it turns out , for time immemorial.
