In the midst of being swept under the momentum
of our day
lies our capacity for awareness.
For being present with the small
moments.
For grieving the disappointments, and finding that tiny bit of ability
to relish something good.
Good feeling builds more good feeling.
I find if I
make time early on to mindfully experience the coming and going of what it's
like -
pain, exhaustion, financial concerns, fewer options than I imagined,
if
I let these come down the stream, fill me with emotion , and then pass on by,
I
find I can better settle in my day and my life, as it is today.
It's then that
I'm grateful, and smile .
