where we slowly project this fine layer of made up crap of our own making onto things in our lives.
So that person or that job or that place in town
is really no longer visible to us at all.
The big 'tell' about when we are projecting-is that it has a bigger sting to it. We have a reaction to it, learned response.
That's when we discover that we are not experiencing it for what it is. We have reactivity to some sort of concept we create in our own mind.
Projections are so limiting. too. They limit us from discovering when things have changed. They limit us from processing what is irritating or difficult or disappointing,or better- because it's kind of like a lockdown. We stop seeing or hearing or experiencing something as it truly exists.
Trouble is, we do it all the time. The good news ? We can become aware, if we choose. To perceive the layer of crap , the stories held within , that feel reassuring and in truth are terribly constraining. It's kind of a every-day-in-every-way having the intent of seeing what old stuff we have brought to this situation, and then being more than willing to peer beneath, and do the work .
