Down by the farmers
fields, the fresh clean snow melt waters
swirled in preparation to flood the
dirt road by the tiny bridge,
all the human litter swept about.
The town has
the roadblock at the ready, but the road hadn't
gone under yet. So we drive
past, and park, to walk out along the fields.
They had begun to flood also,
from the rains yesterday
and the day before.
Out on the flooded fields were
ducks having a grand time,
as a mated pair of Great Blue Herons swooped through
the trees.
