6.23.16 Falling into night

In the evening, down by the Connecticut, there were white caps upon waves, pushed up by the persistent wind. The waves pushed upstream, as happens sometimes with rivers, while the powerful current is all pressing downstream. The light cuts across the land down low, the glare illuminating the grasses, the soil, all the small ones that live there.
It was warm and breezy, and I was peacefully alone while I walked up the path , surrounded by the dancing riverfront trees and the range beyond and the bright sunlight flashing before fading into night.
