9.18.16 Readying for colder days

Down we went to the farmers' fields this evening, in the warm September air.
Small flocks of Sparrows twittered and took flight, as we passed by the tall corn, unaccustomed to being disturbed after bedtime.
Down we ambled along the arid dirt road, as the colors overhead shifted and changed, as the shadows slowly began to fall .
On we came to freshly shorn corn , the entire season's growth suddenly vanished , the field cut short and barely recognizable .
As a small swarm of insects approached us, swirling about in a group, almost the first insects , not counting pollinators or damsel and dragon flies, I've seen all summer.
So I welcome them, am glad to see them; so much life depends upon these small vital beings.
We gathered ourselves together at the curve of the road , not yet prepared to go further in case the neighbors are still in residence, with their RV and bee bee gun.
Round we came , as a small wind picked up , and I smiled to myself, preparing for the colder days.
