1.12.16 Ah, dusk

And a soothing
salmon sunset.

1.12.16 One more quiet place

Do you ever have a small favorite place you go often, where you see no one , or maybe no one pays you any mind ?
This flat broad sweep of land has been quiet and unpopulated for so long I'm surprised at all the different fellow visitors , just this week . Why, if I was more personable , and less of a loner, I might even be pleasantly surprised.
See, it's a dead end , dirt , bordered on all sides by farmer fields , and at the end, nestled up next to private camps, all along the river, with old sinks and an old crap tub tossed into the woods.
There are warning signs and makeshift gates, maybe some campfires made out of pikes of rock , and a few ragged old chairs , that sit there year after year, throughout the long quiet seasons.
And there is the Connecticut, of course, after having made a few sharp turns , past the arroyo where I walk , churning down below the Coolidge Bridge alongside 91. And then swinging past these stands of seed-strewn trees right here.
On a clear day at dawn or dusk, the sunlight reflects off the bridge ,and I watch the distant cars rush on by, having no clue as they zoom from New Hampshire or Vermont to Springfield or Boston or New York.
No clue at all, of all these quiet places of beauty. , listing in one more mid winters wind.

1.12.16 As only

A slight snow falls, and it somehow covers the field
lightly, as only a gentle winter windfall can.

1.11.16 For each other

" They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
They are for, for each other."
              Crosby, Stills and Nash

1.11.16 Down we went

to the road by the farmer's fields, after one lousy sleep
and a sweet quiet breakfast together.
Out on the fields it was cold and windy.
So we happily strolled and watched the sun climb higher
and he worshipped flung balls and all was well with the world. , for a bit .

1.11.16 All the bells and whistles

We were up early , so I could drive him over to a dear friend's house, who will spend the day in Boston with him , today. The skies dark and deep sleep blue, until I dropped him off, turned , and drove back home - past the arriving dawn , and all it's lovely bright bells and whistles.

1.10.16 We ran out of toilet paper.

I mean, it was a bit of a tough week , and in tough weeks , the tough stuff takes up so much room, you are lucky if you eat and brush your teeth and don't smell too much and pull off the things most important to do . So we did what we all do.
We reverted to Kleenex, and each of us kept coming home and saying 'Crap! I forgot to get toilet paper !'
We ran out of tissues and broke out the paper napkins kept there for holidays and stuff , kept forgetting again and again .
But we're not spring chickens .... we get it. A bit of overload. Just relax . Let go of mess ups and confusions and mistakes and petty conflicts and just cool out. Do the best you can.
We were getting close to the end of the napkins , as I dropped him off at his Sam appointment.
I forgot as I picked him up and he left me there to trade sessions.
But hey , when he arrived to get me , Ta da!!! I was like 'Wow! You remembered!' Hugging him , as he sat there behind the steering wheel , pleased beyond measure.
What's so funny is how thick and fast and busy life was for so many years with all the kids and needs and homework and projects and social complexity and tutors and lessons and teams and all .
So funny to me how beautiful it all is , and wearing . We aren't infinite and these gorgeous choices and events wear us out . Use us up a bit .
So , we find ourselves going down the road of our lives, and eventually it both takes less to bring us to our knees, and less to induce great and good embracing and laughter and celebration .
