6.26.17 Seamless

Here we are, in our little tiny great beyond.
I step out under the shade of the woods, look up, and there the goshawk, stealing an egg from the Bluejay. For their own baby. And far up in the sky, so far I can hardly see it, is a great blue heron, floating seamlessly by.

6.26.17 A little tiny universe

There are a lot of behavioral patterns we settle down into, in our lives, without really thinking about it. We have some experiences, begin telling ourselves that things are this way or that way, and there we are. Seeing the world that way. Responding that way. We forget that there's anything else.

One of these patterns is the defensive/shame setting. It's a tough boat to row, but favored by many. It's a pretty straightforward deal to run.

This one entails responding to every interaction by either reacting defensively, or shaming oneself.

Both are quick acting. They're not complex, , and don't require a lot of consideration or thought. Whenever anything happens, and you pop into one or the other setting, all discussion stops. All insight stops.

That might be the greatest advantage of this setting. You just have to choose one or the other option, to prevent anybody having any real conversation or inquiry with you anytime. Anywhere.

People use this one seem to let the defensive reaction predominate, alternating it intermittently with the shame setting.

The shame setting precludes the necessity to have to talk anything out with anybody.

And it's quite flexible, because you can pair it either with being so down on yourself that everyone feels badly for you, or you can pair it with antagonism. To drive people off.

The end result, in using the defensive/shame approach to life, is that you don't have to think too much.

For the most part, the only people you really develop a rapport with, or hang out with, are fellow defensivers, fellow shamers, people who will defense to your shame, or shame to your defense. A little tiny universe, in and of itself.

6.25.17 Out on the weekend

https://www.facebook.com/GwenMcClellanWordsandPictures/videos/1354422327927881/

Down by the farmers fields, several Swallow families all brought
their newly fledged babies out for a spin.
The babies were SO EXCITED to be birds! To be Swallows!
Their parents swooped about by their sides. So much love.

6.21.17 Bringing it on home

Sometimes we just go along, learning and clarifying and sitting mindfully with the confusing tough crap in our lives, and it settles a bunch and comes clear.
It comes clear in this way we've never noticed or realized before.
And what we see, as it somehow settles on down, sliding past most of our make believe facades we've been unknowingly propping up all these years, is the greater actuality.
That now smashes us up sideways. We wonder if it's going to take us out by the knees.
So we keep settling and letting go and settling and letting go, knowing that if we can just hold out, without sublimating or self medicating or avoiding or dissociating, we just might come face to face with the clearest view we've managed to have so far.
And it's so so far from our little unbeknownst-to-you Disney movie.
It's so far from what we've been making our efforts towards, growing or building, with that family or partner or dear old friend.
And when they see us see them in real time, they are so pissed off at us.
As if us getting clear, and seeing past their posturing, or the garden variety self deceit we all mostly engage in, in our fault alone.
In fact, 9 times out of 10, if they are in proximity to each other, they get together to make strategy, to soften the rough tough experience of us possibly saying nothing at all about the new stark view. Of them. Real time. Real world.
But they catch sight of each other, and unconsciously band together , triangulating with each other and against us, together shoring up their defenses.

~

Reassuring each other that, in fact ,the only real problem is us.
But posturing and self deception and defensive story telling are old old games, age old hobbies .
And no matter what we want to believe, there is this really really good probability they might choose marginalizing us, instead of looking to see if what we've caught sight of has any veracity at all.
Which is our clue to step back and back and back ,and shift those boundaries to a better place.
To let go let go let go,of our old hopes and dreams and yearnings and assumptions.
To settle on down, farther into our own life. Into our own honesty, our own precious focus, and then turn, and quietly bring it on home.

6.21.17 And then

There is what we see and hear
and smell and taste and touch.
And then, there is the contemplation
of the reflection.
