We got down there , past slippery streets and
cars swooned off roads into ditches , in a new land where virtually every one
has a little cell phone in hand. And I kept wondering why on earth everyone was
scooting around so fast in their cars as if this did not qualify as a
snowstorm, due to it being April. There was a few inches of snow down by the
farmers fields, and flocks of red red big bellied Robins in the trees, and a
swarm of Starlings being magnificent ,what with their synchronized everything. So on we went, walking, not jogging while he dug in tunnels and chased the ball
and ran about. And still ,the newly arrived Plover scolded us as we went on by, while I
called out promises fur the coming summer, of their ancestral home right there,
and nested babies and all. As the wind rose up and the snow blasted sideways down the open fields, and
roared through the budded trees by the waters. And I turned into the sharp freezing wind, smiling enough- about hard things
and the remarkable, and this being today instead of any other day , all the
while finding myself so blessed .
