2.17.16 Here lies the river

   Down by the Connecticut
Down the rickety staircase   with the tremulous fallen     railings
Down the path upon the rounded banks, covered by snow, by ice, lies the river itself, with its rapid current.
Silent in spring and fall, coursing always past us. Nourishing wildlife and plant life- singing the age old evaporation/ precipitation chorale with each passing cloud.
But as I draw near, all I am aware of is its
powerful beauty, its momentous reach and path.
