It's on summer days like
this, with pale billowy clouds
filling the skies, slightly cool but the promise of a hot day, that I had
preadolescents and adolescents in my home, some of them waking early, some
late. So much engineering of just enough structure, combined with just enough
wide open free quiet time.
With the old ' You find a job or I'll tell you what volunteer work you're going to do.'
It's on days like this that found me waking intercurled with my beloved, to the sounds of laughter or rancor or tip toeing through the house, the plans of the day unfolding in my mind as I opened my eyes.
The cats and the dogs and the hamsters and the snakes, rabbits and crabs and fish. All the friends coming knocking at the door, with their bikes and their bike helmets and picnics in their backpacks.
Everybody excited for more.
