12.17.16 Meinrad Craighead

I love this piece by Meinrad Craighead, an artist and visionary.
Her hair is up as if she is moving so swiftly. A look of consternation or great focus upon her face, both her self and her deep wise creature self have a hand and a paw as they paint. The deep wise gut self visible in both the painter and the painter.
The waxing moon and arrow of movement to the past overhead and behind, separated into two, another arrow pointing to the future.
The faceless powerful winged figure coming forth in the painting. And upon her back, a quiver, of what? Winged paintbrushes? Reeds from the river?

She is leaning forward, firmly planted in a diamond of rose, animal-hide moccasins on her feet, and in this darkest of nights, as her faithful dog holds the space and looks on, her back grows tawny as a beast.
