3.3.15 And with a bit of rustling about

Up at 4, with a very old lady dog needing urgently to go out.
So, I got up and the big pup got up and we all trundled down the few stairs and through the kitchen (a bit slow, old ones go) and out the cold dining room, out into the night.
The moon huge and bright white in the darkness, so close up in the sky. The stars plentiful and shining, filling the heavens up above.
My little old one standing outside, relishing the cold seeping into her old body, taking a moment to sniff the air for news, then lick some fresh snow, stand longer as the pup grew restless and I tried to stay asleep, til she turned round and came near the back steps, a signal for me, her assistant and beloved, to come help her up.
The pup waiting at the open door, til I say "Ok", and he rumbles down to me, to be put on the rope, happily taking in the silent night, the deep darkness, the brisk refreshing cold.

Til the old one has wandered through
the kitchen, round the corner, helped up the stairs, and after a good drink, snuggled back in bed.
The young one retrieved, asking if it's actually time to play (NO), or to eat, perchance? (NO!),
then relinquishing his hopes, and good-naturedly settling his big young self politely on his dog bed, while Shiva gets the human bed,

and with a bit of rustling about, everyone falls back asleep.
