The elusive Loki has been coming downstairs more, 

now that we have a gate-enforced 

demilitarized zone that is pup proof. 
So the 20 lb. 15 year old feline comes down 

to sit and quietly purr and talk

 and yak yak yak at the birds and chipmunks on the feeder table 

and happily mess with 

the delicious catnip .
