At home, we sat, tired, after I disconnected
him, after he smiled and we napped for a while, the big Shepherd up on the bed
with us, protecting. Cats tucked in, here and there.
When we got up, I laughed to myself ,thinking about how naps can change, from our 20s to our 60s.
We sat in the living room, as a most welcome spring storm arrived, crashing and thundering through the neighborhood. Splattering mounds of water onto the bird feeding table, the birdbath, and all the dryland that's been waiting just for this.
Squeezing his hand, I left, and drove off, alone. I swung by the farmers fields, just to say hello, before nightfall.
And everyone was there. The Hawks and the Starlings, one goshawk, and the beautifully watered land.
I could almost hear the growth exploding from within all those waiting living things.
