10.14.15 Unmistakable

Outside, the crows are setting up such a clatter , then running away. I'm out, gathering grasses to dry and put in nesting boxes for winter avian warmth, gathering up the last tiny Butternut squash and onions and leeks from the overgrown garden , then watering everyone so the tall strong Kale will stay well into winter.
I look up, and there , unmistakably , is an Osprey once again , who we never see around here, though between the river and the range , should be a tantalizing region.
It veers through the air at such speed , so that I agree with the adolescent crow siblings, who just months ago were fearfully and squalkily learning to bravely approach the compost pile .
Beautiful day , colors in full swing, the colder temperatures about to approach . Has this just been summer sliding smoothly past Native Summer straight into later fall?
